Introduction to the Beijing concert hall
Beijing Concert Hall is the first professional concert hall in China. It located in the core area of Chang'an Avenue, the political, cultural and commercial center. Beijing Concert Hall has a history of nearly half century as a National landmark. The famous maestros of China Li Delun and Yan Liangkun personally directed the reconstruction of the Hall at the original site in the 1980s. In 2004, after the new renovation, Beijing Concert Hall officially resumed business on December 31.
The new Beijing Concert Hall has a fashionable facade, solemn and elegant interior design, outstanding acoustics and improved theater services. It is becoming a representative professional venue for international classical music community.
Here, over 200 performances for each year, including piano, strings, symphonic, choral, opera, folk music, etc. Artists like Menuhin, Stern, Seiji Ozawa, Yo-Yo Ma, Skoda, Domingo, Cabaille, Maisky, Lang Lang, Liu Shikun, Yin Chengzong, Fou Tsong, Lu Siqing, Eschenbach, etc. have left a glorious memory in the Beijing Concert Hall.
The renovated Beijing Concert Hall takes a land area of 2750 square meters. It has 1024 seats, which enables the audience to enjoy the shows in a relaxed, comfortable environment.
The stage area is approximately 270 square meters, 21 meters wide at proscenium and 13 meters depth of the main stage, which can host Symphony Orchestra and Chorus around 100 artists. There are 16 pieces of acoustic panels made in the United States hanging below the ceiling of the stage, which ensures best presentation of sound at every angle to the audience. The concert hall is designed with a range of modern architectural acoustics measures that produce good frequency characteristics, moderate reverberation time and uniform sound field distribution, making it a perfect site not only for professional performances, but excellent live recording venue. The large organ at the stage area is the very first one in China, with 4859 pipes. It remains a good sound quality over the past twenty years, and still is one of Beijing's largest organs. Meanwhile, the Beijing Concert Hall has the most advanced equipment and technology of live recordings. Numerous record companies made their album here and released worldwide.
